New Apostolic Church  of Portage

2025 Annual

Congregation Report

"It's Time to Do Good!"

"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lost heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith!" - Galatians 6:9-10

Our Vision

"A Church in which people feel at home and, inspired by the Holy Spirit and their love for God, align their lives to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and thus prepare themselves for His return and eternal life!"

How are we doing thus far?

Our Vision for 2022

1

WORSHIP

"It is our goal to grow in Worship in this coming year in order that we are "All in Awe" and are all singing and playing and serving for an audience of ONE!"  We will do this by integrating young & not so young, men & women, singers & musicians, with a blended mix of contemporary & traditional songs.

2

RELATIONSHIP

2019 is a year for us to get back to the basics...Relationships.  From Small Groups to Fellowships, Date Nights to Picnics, Zoo visits to Chili Cookoffs and most importantly to continue to grow rich in our relationship with Jesus Christ! We look forward to growing in our relationships in this coming year!!

3

SERVANTSHIP

As Jesus modeled for us, it is our goal to continue to grow as a congregation in our Servantship.  For all to get involved in something and to engage all generations in using His Divine Resources to meet Human Needs as Loving Channels to the Glory of God!

4

LEADERSHIP

As we continue to grow as a church it is important for us to equip the leaders to do the work of ministry well!  However, it is also important to discover the hidden talent God has gifted us in our congregation. To help our men and women, our young and not so young, our members and guests to grow in their gifts and to equip them with the tools to be successful in fulfilling their ministries and allowing God's will to impact our community through them! Won't you join us this year!

5

STEWARDSHIP

Finally, 2019 is going to be a year of seed sowing. God was a giver, Jesus was a giver, and it is our joy as a congregation to be givers as well.  Our offerings support our local and national church in order to share the gospel here in the United States as well as several other countries in our hemisphere.  However, it is important for us to also be good stewards over the resources that God has given to us.  Thus, we will continue to establish controls, budgets and practice sound management with our ministries as we work with our national church at becoming more fiscally sound.

2024 In Review

Count Your Blessings Calmly One by One!

6

Baptisms

In John 3:5, Jesus said:  “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God!"  Baptism not only washes away original sin but leads a soul into a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church and through this first step in the rebirth they become Christians as part of the Body of Christ. We were blessed to see God draw 6 people to Him in 2024 and make this wonderful profession of faith!

2

Adoptions

Adoption is an act of blessing when a Christian who has already received the Baptism in the Trinity & by Water publicly professes the creed of the New Apostolic faith. We were blessed to see God draw 2 special souls to us in 2024 and make their wonderful profession of faith to our church and our congregation!  We are thankful to welcome this dear friend and look forward to serving alongside them in this wonderful work of Love!!

10

Holy Sealing

Ten souls received the gift of the Holy Spirit this past year with the Visits of our Apostle Orlofski to our congregation. We are so thankful for each of these wonderful people and the blessing they are to our congregation!

3

Confirmands

Three wonderful young men publicly professed their New Apostolic faith as they were confirmed in May 2024. We are so thankful that these young men loved the Lord and are already serving within our congregation and community!

2

Ordinations

We were blessed to have Ben Fries ordained as a Priest and Sister Adrienne Heidema ordained as a Deacon for our congregation by the Apostle Orlofski in August 2024.  These two ministers are a great blessing and we are thankful to our Heavenly Father for the gift of two wonderful servants in our congregation.

3

Births

We were blessed with 3 new babies born in this past year to families within the congregation.  We thank the Lord for this new life within our congregation!

Volunteers

Celebration

In the Spring of 2024 we were able to celebrate our 3rd annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.  It was a chance for our congregation to thank the Lord for the many gifts in the congregation and the wonderful volunteers who help out every week in some way to be a blessing to our congregation and our community.  Thank You to all of our Volunteers for your unshelfishness and your love for our Heavenly Father's work!

Youth

Weekends

The Youth Group had many wonderful adventures and opportunities to serve here locally and in district and regional events from Cincinnatti to Chicago to serving our Seniors and Veterans here locally.  They continue to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and we are all so proud of them!

Joy Group

Regional Senior Weekend & More

Our JOY (Jubilant Older Youth) Group experienced many wonderful trips this summer to places such as Henry Ford Musuem, Turkeyville, hosting the Regional Senior Service Weekend in Portage and more all joined together with our brothers and sisters from our congregation and our district.  Many joyful moments & treasured friendships were experienced!

District
Service

March 24th

Our Portage congregation was truly blessed to experience a District Service with our District Apostle Schnabel on Palm Sunday this past year.  What a special day it was to share this blessed Sunday with our District Apostle and all of our brothers & sisters

of faith in the District.

Missons

Supporting Those in Need

There is always so many in need and we are so thankful that our congregation recognized the needs of so many in Florida and North Carolina after the devastating rains and floods as a result of a powerful hurricane that went thru the region.  A team rallied together and our congregation supported them with many supplies and our team was a blessing to many families and communities in the Asheville NC area!

Family Weekend

October 2024

We were intentional in October to invest into bringing a local and national speaker to train and encourage our congregation for our Family Weekend including sessions on Parenting, Marriage/Relationships and finances.  What a special weekend it was to continue to grow and develop as disciples of Jesus Christ.

New HVAC System

Summer 2024

Our Portage congregation was truly blessed to finally be able to update our heating and cooling systems in the church building when our national church supported us in installing 4 new packaged HVAC units and ductwork to provide a faster and more responsive heating and cooling system in our ever changing Michigan weather.

We had another blessed week sharing God's love with children and over 60 families in our community!  This years program was entitled "Scuba...diving into friendship with God" and we welcomed over 100 different children this year with over 50 volunteers assisting from our congregation and community.  The program ran Monday thru Friday nights from 5pm to 8pm with our graduation service/celebration on Sunday July 28th.

What's Ahead?

this upcoming quarter!

100 Years

Bob Gregg Sr. & Brayden Schimp will start with interviews of our brothers & sisters and a planning team will be coming together soon to coordinate all of the details to celebrate this historic milestone and especially Thank the Lord for His love, faithfullness, and grace over all of these years with so many families and friends!

Volunteers Needed

It's Time to DO GOOD!

We are excited to work together in fulfilling our motto this year "It's Time to DO Good!"  In order to DO this, we need everyone involved and so we encourage everyone to find a place in which to serve in 2025 and follow the inspirations of the Holy Spirit and the gifts that He has infused into each soul in our congregation to be a blessing to our Heavenly Father's work this coming year!

Improve

Communications

One area that our Leadership Team wants to improve upon in this coming year is to communicate even better. From Announcements to monthly calendars to weekly updates while using email, text and other tools to keep everyone informed and all on the same page as much as possible!

New SLT Members

Thank You

Gary Cluster and Sister Dana Cook for their leadership and support in faithfully serving our congregation these past several years in these roles

Worship

Another area that our Leadership Team wants to improve upon in this coming year is to grow as a congregation in our understanding of Worship. From prayer to music and all from the heart,  it is our longing as a congregation to "All be in Awe" of the One who is deserving of all our praise!

Community is so important to us, which is why we support our small groups here at NAC Portage. GROWING YOUNG

Being intentional about reaching the next generation!

GOING FORWARD

Generation: Spark

In collaboration with our national FaithArc program, our SLT and Pastoral Care Teams are in the process of rethinking our Children & Youth Ministry programs and structure to determine what is the best way to connect, teach and integrate our younger generation into our congregation both now and in the future!  Some of the questions we're evaluating are:  Should we change our structure to match the school year such as preschool, elementary, middle school, high school and college?  We are also evaluating a small group strategy known as Leading Small that poses some great questions:  What if the biggest difference in a young persons life is made by not doing something BIG but by doing something small?  Can we come to the realization that doing something for a few will always have more potential than what we do for many?  When we lead small we simply make a choice to invest strategically in the lives of a few over time so we can help them build an authentic faith!

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."  Deuteronomy 6:4-7,9 NIV

Help us reach the next generation!

We want to be a blessing to our younger generation. Help us to encourage and equip them to make a difference in the world!
